Empty Spaces

A tiny cabinet rests on a table.  The cabinet is opened with doors at the side and top and the magician's assistant enters.  The cabinet is so small she can barely squeeze into it.  All doors are fastened closed and the fun begins! 

First, two blades are inserted through the centre of the cabinet.  The audience wonders how the girl could possibly avoid the blades when they just saw how tightly the girl was squeezed into the cabinet.  Then, the top half of the cabinet is separated slightly from the lower half and quickly replaced.  The audience gets a clear view of the space between and the magician takes his first applause. 

The top half is dramatically pivoted all the way around through 180 degrees and is brought to rest beside the lower box. With the boxes fully separated like this, there is no evidence of where the girl could possibly be. 

Two tubes are now displayed and are placed through the two separate boxes, showing that the boxes are indeed empty.  Finally, as if any more proof was needed, the rear panels of both cabinets are removed and the audience can see clearly through both cabinets.  The girl has vanished!

All can be reversed, and the girl makes her re-appearance, unharmed and smiling.
